DSWD orients congressional staff on PDAF/CI guidelines

Butuan City- The Department of Social Welfare and Development conducted a consultation meeting with the congressional staff on the guidelines of Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF)/Congressional Initiative (CI) management and utilization on April 30, 2013.

The Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF)/Congressional Initiative (CI) is an appropriation allocated for the members of Congress to fund priority programs and projects or to fund the required  counterpart for foreign-assisted projects which amount shall be released directly to the implementing agency or Local Government Units concerned.

The coverage of PDAF which assigned to DSWD by members of congress used to provide augmentation support for the implementation of the Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (CIDSS), disaster management including relief and rehabilitation, social protection and promotion of rights and welfare of the poor and the disadvantaged and for the implementation of community driven development projects.

Australian gov’t supports education in Caraga with CDD projects

Butuan CityThe Australian Government Overseas Aid program through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Caraga region have recently turned-over educational facilities worth Php9,588,295.

A total of ten (10) educational facilities comprising of five (5) day care centers, three (3) pre-school buildings and two (2) elementary school buildings were constructed in the municipality of Pilar, Surigao del Norte through the implementation strategy of the DSWD’s community-driven development (CDD) program called Kalahi-CIDSS.

Kalahi-CIDSS or Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services is one of the government’s flagship poverty alleviation programs designed to reduce poverty by empowering citizens and bringing back the power to them to decide on development projects that will answer basic services need in the community.

DSWD Caraga Hosts National IP Focal Consultation Workshop

Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga Field Office recently hosted the National Consultation Workshop and Quarterly Field Assessment and Technical Assistance to the Indigenous People (IP) focal persons of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program held in a hotel here in Butuan City.

The four-day activity aimed to increase appreciation on participative assessment among National and Regional IP Focal Persons for an in-depth analysis of program implementation.  Moreover, the activity specifically aims to create a venue of interactive and participatory discussion of experiences, learning and insights in the implementation of the program, to globally and locally abreast of trends and innovations, strategies to advocate rights for Indigenous Peoples that it is important in program implementation and to kindle the spirit of teamwork crucial in meetings goals and objectives.

DSWD Conducts Orientation to 40 Newly Hired SWAs and CWAs

Butuan City- the Department of Social Service and Development (DSWD) Caraga recently conducted a three-day orientation to the 40 newly hired Social Welfare Assistants (SWAs) and Child Welfare Assistants (CWA) Assistance of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program on April 10-12, 2013 at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City.

The Pantawid Pamilya SWAs/CWAs primary function is to assist the Municipal/City Link Officers in his/her workload. The SWA/CWA plays a vital role in the carrying out the program’s services, that includes distribution and retrieval of Compliance Verification forms gather and submit Grievance and Redress Systems forms. Moreover, it is also their function to assist in the conduct of Social Welfare Indicator to their respective beneficiaries whenever they are recommended to augment.

DSWD completes P64.1-M infra projects in Caraga

Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has recently completed infrastructure projects in Caraga region worth P64.13 million through its anti-poverty project, Kalahi-CIDSS.

Benefiting these infrastructure projects are fifty-three (53) barangays in nine (9) municipalities in the region which include among others, education and health facilities; community production, economic and service facilities; environmental protection structures and preservation projects; footbridges; water systems; road projects.

The municipalities of RTR and Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte; Alegria, Mainit, Tubod, Sta. Monica, Del Carmen, and Burgos, Surigao del Norte; and Lingig in Surigao del Sur are now on their way to inaugurate these projects.
